Retinol is a pure Vitamin A and it is commonly used to treat various skin conditions such as acne prone skin, discolouration and wrinkles. It can also fade actinic keratosis spots, evens pigmentation and speeds the skin’s turnover. Topical Vitamin A (retinoids) work at a much more profound level by affecting gene expression and causing enhanced collagen production, skin smoothing thus reducing fine lines and wrinkles. They also stimulate the production of new blood vessels in the skin, which improves skin colour. Additional benefits include fading age spots and softening rough patches of skin. Retinol also regulates oily skin and minimises breakouts.

Description

  • Aesthet Retinol cream is an antiaging cream containing active Retinol which has been stabilised with anti-oxidants to stimulate skin renewal, reduce uneven skin tone and the appearance of fine lines.
  • It also contains TighRenyl™, bio-technological complex that helps to rejuvenate the skin matrix and effectively smooth the skin surface.
  • Omega 6.3 Ceramides of raspberry seed oil and natural polysaccharides aid to restore skin moisture and the skin barrier cohesion.
  • Heptapeptide-34 and Gorgonian extract serve to reduce the risk of flaking and irritation often associated with Retinol.

Application

Start application of Aesthet Retinol cream once every second or third day and increase it to once daily then increase to twice daily.

“In my experience, it takes an average of 12 weeks for retinol to produce noticeable changes in the skin. So stick with it for at least that long to see the benefits.”

Irritation that flares up after adding Vitamin A to your regimen is “all part of the process” (reasonably flushed, drier than usual, lightly peeling skin). It’s a good idea to layer a heavier moisturiser over your retinoid to avoid dryness. Clinically after two or three weeks the skin cells adapt to the retinoic acid and begin to tolerate the ingredient.

Retinoids do not increase your risk of sunburn. Combining retinol with island hopping may even be a good thing. They not only boost collagen production, but may also have the potential to stop photoaging before it starts. They’ve been shown to prevent the rise of collagenase – the enzyme that breaks down collagen – after UV exposure.

Retinol can be safely applied around the eyes. Studies have shown that people who apply retinol right up to the eyes get the best results!!
